About the ASRS v1.1

The Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale was developed with the World Health Organization by Ronald Kessler and colleagues. The six-question screener is Part A of the full 18-item scale and uses a shaded-box scoring rule rather than a simple sum.

What does a positive ASRS screen mean?

Four or more shaded answers means the pattern of symptoms is consistent with adult ADHD and worth a proper evaluation. It is a screen; many people who screen positive do not have ADHD, and many who do have it need more than six questions to show it.

Can this diagnose ADHD?

No. Diagnosis requires a clinical evaluation covering childhood history, current functioning, and other explanations.
